Dental Implants provide Long-lasting, Comfortable Results

Dr. Scott Finlay, a cosmetic and restorative dentist in the Annapolis area, has years of education and over 25 years of experience helping patients who have suffered the loss of one or more teeth. Among his many achievements and accolades, Dr. Finlay is one of only 50 dentists nationwide who are recognized as an Accredited Fellow by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Finlay offers several cosmetic and restorative options to his patients for replacing a missing tooth, but dental implants remain the “gold standard” for patients who want a comfortable, natural looking and long lasting result. Dental implants also provide a secure, comfortable way to anchor a dental bridge or dentures- no more concerns about an appliance coming loose!

Dental implants are permanent structures secured to a patient’s jawbone with a small titanium post that is surgically implanted. A cosmetically matched, natural looking dental crown is placed on top of the post, providing the patient with a “new tooth” that looks and feels almost exactly like their natural tooth. With proper oral hygiene and routine dental cleanings, dental implants will last for up to 20 years! Patients who are committed to follow up care and regular dental visits will see the best results in the long run.

Dr. Finlay will perform a thorough evaluation of patients with a missing tooth to determine if they are a candidate for a dental implant. Patients need to have healthy gums and there needs to be enough bone to support the implantation of the post.

The entire dental implant process takes 3 to 6 months to complete, depending on the amount of time needed for the implanted post to heal completely within the bone. Dr. Finlay works with leading oral surgeons in the Baltimore-Annapolis area and will coordinate all phases of treatment for his patients, ensuring their quality of care for the surgical phase of treatment. Dr. Finlay will follow up with patients after the surgical phase and provide a temporary crown or bridge while the bone is healing. The final restoration, or attachment of the crown, will be done by Dr. Finlay in his Arnold dental office.

If you have been considering a dental implant and want to discuss your options, contact Dr. Finlay to schedule a consultation and discuss your options for replacing a missing tooth or anchoring a dental bridge or denture with dental implants.
